Brian Harasek - Soccer Journey Abroad (Spain)

Brian has been offered a great opportunity, he went to the Ascenso soccer ID clinic back in December and a few coaches from Spain are interested in bringing him over to train and try out for semi-pro and professional level teams. This would be an opportunity of a lifetime! He would live in the sports facility with the club of his choosing (we have 3 options) for a year, starting in August. All training and coaching will be provided but I will need to pay for his room and board. So I am starting this fundraiser to give everyone the chance to help support Brian on his journey.

Ever since Brian was 4 years old, his only focus has been soccer. Although it’s been challenging since he was born with an auto-immune disease, Evan’s Syndrome, which is a rare blood disorder, about one in every nine million people get diagnosed. This disease causes the body to destroy platelets and red-blood cells. As a young child Brian, had to under-go treatment and weekly blood tests, he was also hospitalized over 10 times, and even in intensive care twice. There were points when the doctors weren’t even sure he would be able to participate in sports at all. But once he touched a soccer ball, he fell in love. It was clear to him and everyone around him that he was gifted. Brian has overcome this rare disease and managed to excel at this beautiful game and get a chance to travel abroad and train with the elite.

Brian has dedicated his life to soccer. And although this opportunity is well deserved, it will come with many challenges, the first will be securing the financial means to travel and reside in Spain. Since, I am a single mother, raising two children, this will be very difficult. I have supported Brian in all his soccer endeavors and I have never been more proud. I intend to do whatever is possible to make his dream come true and send him to Spain so he can see what is in store for the next chapter in his soccer career. We are asking for your support.

Brian has played for many teams over the years, where he gained experience and knowledge, excelled and won awards for his talents, but most of all started lifelong friendships. I’m hoping all his soccer family, friends and peers will support him in this opportunity. Who would have thought a kid from our small town in New Jersey could have the chance to travel to Spain and compete for a spot on a professional soccer team??
