My name is Ila Duncan, and I am raising funds for my wonderful father, Brian.
He is a thoughtful, intelligent, empathetic, and hardworking man who cares deeply for those around him. A supportive and goofy single father to 3, he's often found making Dad jokes and doing whatever he can to make others smile, especially his grandchildren.
On October 22nd of this year, around noon, my father had a major heart attack that rendered him physically dead for over an hour. Brian was on the job site when the heart attack began, and his client drove him to the hospital.
Thankfully, with 85 minutes of CPR and 7 shocks via AEDs, the doctors were able to save his life. They began surgery immediately to clear his 100% blocked “Widowmaker” (LAD) artery. Once they removed the blockage, they implemented a stent to keep it functional.
The nurses were shocked that he recovered from this with his life and is healing well. He was able to leave the hospital just 6 days after admission and is now in the process of starting his outpatient recovery. It is a miracle he is alive; my family could not be more thankful. He attributes it all to his faith in God and is grateful that his time has not come yet.
Although he is healing at an incredible rate, he still suffers from broken ribs and bruised lungs, along with his newfound heart issues. Due to these injuries, my father will be out of work for at least the upcoming month. My family could not have imagined these events happening and were unprepared for the financial strain this would cause. Any donations will help directly cover his medicines, upcoming doctor visits, remaining bills, and beginning to pay off hospital visit costs.
I am a full-time college student with almost a full-time job. Although my family and I will try our best to support ourselves, my father needs to focus on healing more than anything else at this time. With this GoFundMe, we hope to reach those who can lend a helping hand to aid our family at this time, no matter how great or small. All proceeds will go directly to help cover his medicines, upcoming doctor visits, remaining bills, and payments for hospital costs. We are grateful to those who share our story with others and ask that you keep our family in your thoughts and prayers.
Thank you so much for your time and compassion,
The Duncans
