Brian Dodds Medical and Financial Relief

Hey everybody,

Unfortunately, we are at the point financially that dad and Lisa need to lean on the support of those who love and care for them. Dad is an extremely hard worker, so much so that before he became sick he was working two jobs. He was always on-the-go, always doing anything he could to help anyone he knew or didn’t know, he truly has such a big heart. It’s makes me tearful thinking about asking for help for my dad, because he isn’t someone who needs help ever. He’s the good man in the storm, he is who you go to for help, for anything.

But here we are:

Dad is currently in the trauma ICU unit in Florence and has been for the past two weeks. His condition is extremely critical, and at this moment we are having the “if he survives..” conversations with his medical team. Right now his doctors are worried about his heart, his kidneys that are not working and may not again, as well as his lungs that are currently growing mold and yeast. He needs to come off the ventilator but his body is not tolerating that at all. The hope was to wean sedation and come off the ventilator and finally get to hear his quick wit and his caring heart speak again. However, it is looking like it will be more realistic that he has a trach placed and continue to have manufactured breathing by the machine. The trach also means that if he is able to come off of it, he will not be able to speak until it is removed. We are extremely exhausted by the situation and just want our Brian back.

Financially, the burden of his medical care has been very tough on Lisa and dad. Lisa is staying nearby at a home for critically ill patients family, but it still has to be payed for daily and with no end in sight. Their deductible for their medical insurance is nearly 7,000.00 before they will take care of his medical expenses. They also have a beautiful home, bills, and a life that will begin to struggle without support. If you’re unable to donate, please just share this fund for them, and to spread positivity please share your favorite memory with dad. We are well aware his infectious personality is so loved and that everyone near and far will have a funny or heartwarming story about him that will cheer Lisa and his family up.
