Brian Cole STRONG! Fight against cancer
Donation protected
Brian is a loving husband to his beautiful wife Laurie, and father to his two amazing daughters Emma and Payton (and let’s not forget his dog Auggie, his 85 lb. furry friend and loyal companion!) They live in Snohomish, Washington.
On October 11th, 2016 this family’s world was turned upside down. Brian had not been feeling well, and on this particular morning as Brian got ready for work he collapsed which led to a 911 call from their young daughter. A short time later an aid car and ambulance arrived at their home and Brian was rushed to the hospital. Within days, Brian and his family received the difficult news that he had advanced stage colorectal cancer.
Brian endured radiation and chemo treatments over the next several months, along with three major surgeries and multiple procedures. Although this certainly took a toll on him physically, it did not take away his uplifting and positive spirit that blesses every life he touches. He was able to return to work two years after the diagnosis.
In July of 2020, after being in remission for three years, on a routine checkup – Brian was given the devastating news that two new tumors were found. He is currently in chemotherapy treatment, and with the complexity due to the location of the tumors requires Brian to be cared for at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He will need to have three weeks of radiation treatment at the Mayo Clinic immediately followed by three major complex surgeries requiring six specialists.
Brian and Laurie will be required to stay in Minnesota for an extended period of time and the financial impact to their family will be significant.
In 2014, the winner of the Jimmy V Perseverance Award at the ESPYs said this: “You beat cancer by how you live, why you live, and the manner in which you live.” When you think of it this way - Brian beats cancer daily, because he lives for those around him. He lives for Laurie and his young daughters, for his family, for his friends, for his coworkers. Even through the thick of chemotherapy, he never ceases to put a smile on others faces with his contagious sense of humor. Throughout this round of chemo, he even continues to work in a physical job - with a daily determination, strength, and unwavering integrity that never ceases to inspire.
This amazing family can use our support, love and prayers along with our financial assistance. There are significant medical and travel expenses that are accumulating as he continues on his journey toward healing.
If you are able, we are asking for donations to help the Cole family through what is certain to be a trying time. While it’s hard to think of anyone better equipped to tackle this situation with strength, grace, and grit than Brian, it would be a wonderful blessing if we could help to ease the financial burden this is placing on the family. The world is a much better place with Brian Cole in it. Any support is appreciated and welcomed.
Thank you for taking the time to read Brian’s story! We will continue to post updates.
Since 2016 when Brian was diagnosed, he hasn’t shaved his beard.
His goal is to shave the beard off when he is cancer free.
