Hello all- It is with great sadness that I must convey the unexpected news of the passing of Brian Castro, a.k.a. Coach B.
Brian, unexpectedly fell ill on Easter morning and was admitted to the hospital. He was diagnosed with pancreatitis. Brian fought hard and diligently to beat it. But unfortunately the pancreatitis had moved swiftly and with no hesitation throughout his body.
Brian loved his West Sacramento community and touched many lives, especially our youth. Brian gave countless years and dedication to the West Sacramento Bears, Washington LL, and River city high school football program.
he provided his knowledge, and his time to the young men of these programs. He often used his own funds to ensure any child that wanted to play football, etc. would not only be afforded the opportunity, but would provide them with any additional apparel needed for ( cleats, etc.) not to mention providing his 24-7 taxi services to his players. Lol…
He was asked before, “why do you go above and beyond for your players?” He simply replied, “I’m doing it because I know what it’s like not to have a positive male role model in the home.”
Brian always left a lasting impression with anyone he met. Just ask the lifelong friends he has kept over the years.
Well now Brian’s family needs your help. Brian needs to be laid to rest with the same love, dignity and respect his selflessly gave all of us.
