Brian Anderson Cancer Treatment Assistance

It is very difficult for my father to ask that I write this request.  If you know my father, you know he is the kindest, simplest man some have ever met.  More so, Dad is a very humble man who never asks anyone for help, rather, has always been the man that helps others even when he has very little to give.

Recently, Dad had some lung issues that required medical attention and a brief stay at a care facility.  They gave dad 6 months to live when that occurred now almost 2 years ago!  "Pops" has defied expectations and now serves as a testament and example how putting your mind over the odd's and one can achieve the unexpected.  He has told death, " take a hike, it's not my time" and death listened!

Recently, Dad made the decision to move to Grand Junction to be around family and watch his grandchildren and soon, great granddaughter grow (he is so excited)!  Dad got himself into a health regiment and is in the best health he could be.  He picked up yoga, walks and remains independent and healthy and enjoys an independent lifestyle.  Unfortunately, shortly after moving to Grand Junction to be near us, he began to grow tired.  Basic house and yard work became difficult and a lump began to appear on his neck.  This lead dad to a doctor and now brings us to a place none of us expected to be...……..

Dad has cancer and is preparing for the biggest battle of his life.

As many of you know, he is very independent and hates to put anyone out when it comes to him needing help.  My mother would often tell me a story of a time when dad had $10.00 to his name, split the difference, loaned a friend in need $5.00 and spent the rest on diapers for me.  Many of you know if dad could offer it, you could have it.  Whether a roof over your head, a meal in your belly or the shirt off his back, he would give it.  Now, dad needs our help, thus, the reason for this campaign.

Dad begins radiation this next week and up to this point he has fought and worked hard through it, unfortunately, dad can work no longer.  If you have been touched by cancer you know radiation, travel expenses, medications, living expenses and all medical needs can add up.  My sister and I have done all we can, however, we are raising our own families and financials are strained.  Pops has already been down this month due to multiple scans, appointments, MRI's and multiple doctor expenses already impacting his life causing the inability to work. We will continue to help dad fight but are beginning to experience overwhelming financial expenses beyond anything we could imagine.  The good news is, up to this point we have been able to assist, now comes the hardest thing he has ever had to do, ask for help and accept it.
We will begin radiation treatments everyday for the next 6 weeks.  During that time dad can no longer work.  He has the ability to treat it now before it spreads and allow him to beat it.  As dad would say, "I'm just going to run right at it".  That is his plan, we will have his back in everyway we can.

We know times are tough.  We are all broke on different levels in our lives, however, at the end of the day we all have each other.  We call on our Family, friends, co-workers, business affiliates or anyone that has any ability to assist pops to beat this.  Take a moment and remember dad and think of the moments of impact he created for you in your lives.  He hates that it has come to this, however, he needs your help.  If you are not in a position to assist, could we please ask you to share this post?  Dad has the will and ability to live, he needs a little help to get through this and anything you can spare would go to a great cause, saving the life of a warrior who will power through this, defy the odds and forever be in your debt!
