Brian and Meg could really use the help from all of their friends and family at this time!
Brian was involved in an auto/pedestrian accident in Chelmsford MA on Sunday morning (1/31/2021) after stopping for a coffee on his way home from his overnight shift as a Paramedic for the town of Billerica, MA.
It appears that the vehicle jumped the curb, pinning Brian to the store front, causing severe damage to his right leg. Brian was transported to Lahey Hospital and Medical Center where emergency surgery was performed to attempt to save his leg which was not receiving blood flow.
Thanks to his incredible vascular surgeon, they were able to perform a bypass on his blocked popliteal artery and restore circulation to his calf and foot.
Unfortunately, Brian was also diagnosed with compartment syndrome due to the crush injury he experienced in the accident. The surgeon did need to open Brian's right calf in a couple spots in order to help relieve that pressure.
Brian spent 3 days in the SICU and has recently been moved to a less critical area of the hospital and is on the mend. At this point we are unsure of the length of time that Brian will be in the hospital, nor do we know what types of long-term repercussions he may experience due to this incident.
Brian's road to recovery will be a long one. Please consider donating to relieve some stress for this amazing couple as they learn to navigate this new normal. I know this community is nothing short of amazing.
