Brian and Brittany’s recovery, the aftermath
Donation protected
Hi there, We are not the type to ask for help or support in this manner but Brian and myself were involved in a very serious motorcycle accident the night of May 3rd where Brian should have succumb to his injuries.
On our way home from a friend’s soccer game and dinner, a car accidentally cut us off pulling out of a restaurant driveway. Fortunately we had some incredible protective riding gear on, which actually saved both of our lives but specifically Brian. Miraculously we survived the crash but it was life changing, I was so fortunate to only have a couple of torn ligaments, soft tissue and cartilage damage to my right knee, ankle, left ankle, and a severe concussion.
Tragically Brian endured a broken pelvis, tailbone, internal bleeding around his pelvis, 7 fractured ribs on the right side, 6 shattered and 3 fractured ribs on the left, punctured lungs, a lacerated liver, damaged kidney, 2 chests tubes to drain the bleeding from around his lungs, a ventilator due to collapsed lungs and shock, a fractured shoulder blade, 4 fractures in his lumbar spine, and a severe concussion which caused severe short term memory loss, in the end once he’s back home he will need long term therapy for. He underwent ORIF pelvis surgery, and a MatrixRib surgery to reconstruct his upper right cage around his heart, he will not able to bear weight on his legs for the next 3 months then will have to learn to walk again.
Both of us will require long term therapy physically and mentally, the uncertainty of what’s to come once he’s back home is gut wrenching. We are asking for help and support to bring some certainty and relieve some of the stress of both of us not being able to go back to work for the foreseeable future, due to the nature of our injuries.
Any and every little bit helps towards some of the costs for the equipment, therapy, and the medications that will be needed for Brian specifically once he’s able to return home from the rehab facility.
We can’t thank you enough for taking the time and consideration out of your day to help and support our recovery!
