On the Road to the Paralympics – Help Me Compete in Egypt

Hi, my name is Brett, and I’m a para powerlifter working toward one of the highest honors in sport representing the United States at the Paralympic Games in Los Angeles.

That journey officially begins this year with an international IPC sanctioned competition in Egypt where I will compete in the Bench Press. This event is a required step to earn an official world ranking, a necessary milestone on the path to qualifying for the U.S. Paralympic team. Only the top 10 in the world earn the opportunity to compete in the Paralympics, and this meet is my launch point.

Para powerlifters in the U.S. have very limited opportunities to earn world ranking points. Based on the international competition calendar, this event in Egypt offers the best chance to begin my formal pursuit of Paralympic qualification.

️ About Me

I’ve been part of Team USA Para Powerlifting for four years and have been invited to four international competitions competing in three. A bone infection once sidelined me, but I’ve come back stronger than ever, physically and mentally.

My athletic background spans years of multi-sport competition, including shot put and discus at the state level, as well as basketball. However today, I’m fully focused on elite-level powerlifting and the singular goal of representing my country in Para Bench Press on the world stage.

This isn’t just about lifting weight it’s about pushing past limits, overcoming setbacks, and standing for those who fought through adversity and kept going.
