Brett & Alicia - Back On Their Feet
Donation protected
Recently a some friends of ours (Brett and Alicia) came into some hard times. The landlord in their building in Happy Valley servced them with a no cause eviction and would not allow them to renew their lease. They took the landlord to court but lost the lawsuit and were forced to pay the landlord's attorney fees that amounted to roughly $6700. Once the suit had been settled, they moved out and searched for a new place to live. Unfortunately, the balance due on the court fees ties into their rental history and property management companies wouldn't approve them because of the associated debt.
Currently Brett and Alicia are off an on at the Motel 6 near Bridgeport when their four kids are living with them. When their kids stay with friends and other family, Brett and Alicia sleep at rest stops and camp in hammocks. Alicia works at intel as a cook and loves her job. Brett has vast experience in the construction field but the complexity of their commute schedule and the need to pick up the kids across town in Damascus prohibits him from finding consistent employment in the construction field. Because he's not able to find part time work, he spends time on the corner asking for help. He's described to us in detail how humbling the experience has been.
That's where I first met Brett. I saw him holding signs after leaving the grocery store. I looked around in my car for change, granola bars, water bottles... anything... but there was nothing to give. The light turned green and I drove past him but something drew me back. Since that time we've had Brett and Alicia over to our home for dinner numerous times. When it's raining, we offer them a place to sleep. God has put their family very strongly on our hearts and we are doing everything in our power to help them get back on their feet. With that in mind, the first priority that needs addressing is a change in their current living situation. We're asking for $10,000 to help them pay off the debt as well as have a down payment for a new place to live.
Anything you can offer would be incredibly valuable and we know their family would be SO very grateful for the help. Please consider leaving your email address so we can send you an update if you wish. God is good and His love endures forever!
Thank you so much for your consideration!
