Brett has been fighting this battle for some years now. At the time of this writing, his hearing is nearly non-existent. The treatment they are seeking again is chemo.
They are going to try 1 chemo drug first - it's nasty. If it does not have the results they hope for, they will then begin a 2nd chemo drug - it's super nasty.
Brett has had some incredibly severe side effects in the past with chemo treatments. He's going to have side effects again.
Insurance is not covering all of the treatment costs and they still have medical bills from the last rounds of treatment. They just pay what they can, when they can.
We need Brett, Amy, Tyler and Graham to focus on supporting Brett and beating the ravaging affects NF2 is taking on his body - not worry about whether or not to get and/or continue treatment.
These people love the Lord, love each other, and are always helping others. The world of deafness is difficult to navigate after you have been a hearing person. My sister, cousin, friends at church and I learned sign language to sign to Brett's dad in church when he completely lost his hearing from NF2 several years ago.
When we were being trained, our instructor Barbie said the deaf world is much more difficult than the blind world. You have no idea what is happening in a room; at least if you are blind you can hear the conversation. We have watched this deafness close off Brett's dad who was a once the vibrant image of Brett.
These guys are fighters and need us.
They need our prayers - absolutely.
They need our $$$ - most definitely.
If you can find even the tiniest of cash to help them survive this next round of treatment, I urge you to send it to them right away so they can begin the process of paying off past medical bills and be ready for the upcoming treatment bills.
