Brett Fratangelo’s P.O.E.M. Procedure Campaign

Greetings everyone, it’s been a while. Some of you that know me know about my eating disorder (that’s what I call it). It’s called Achalasia which when broken down in Latin means ‘swollen esophagus’. It’s super rare and people only get it between the ages of 30 and 50. It’s when the upper sphincter (that’s what connects the throat to the stomach and acts like a doorway) becomes swollen so much that nothing will pass through into the digestive system so your body is forced to push it back out the way it came in (vomit). Reason being that if it doesn’t the food or liquid could block your breathing or even get into your lungs and cause pneumonia. I was diagnosed 3 yrs ago but haven’t been able to find a Doctor that is familiar with the disease. Those who’ve known me for a while know that I’ve weighed around 175 lbs since high school and haven’t fluctuated much. I am now down to 107 lbs and the last doctor I saw told me that I’ve been surviving off of my body fat and after that was depleted it moved on to my muscle and had taken 30% of that so far. That was 2 months ago when I weighed 120 lbs. So, I wanted to let everyone know that I’m starting a Go Fund Me page for my procedure that I need to have done. It’s called the P.O.E.M. Procedure. I have finally found a Thoracic surgeon that has done this procedure many times. His name is Dr. Andrew Ching-Hung Chang and he is out of U of M hospital in Ann Arbor. I will be meeting with him sometime after April 30th to devise a plan. I don’t have healthcare or insurance so I don’t know how much this is going to cost. Any thoughts and prayers would be forever appreciated. I am attaching a 2 minute video that explains what they will have to do.
