Brett Driggers Family in Need

Our cousin Brett Driggers was in a tragic farming accident on October 21st.  Due to the critical nature of his accident Brett lost a lot of blood.  He was flown via a med-evac helicopter to the MCG trauma center in Augusta, Georgia.   He was taken to surgery where he received many units of blood and medications to help stabilize his condition.  During that first surgery the doctors were unable to save Brett’s left leg, so it was amputated.  He’s undergone several subsequent surgeries on the remaining portion of his left leg and today had his right leg repaired using a rod and several screws. Brett’s strength, good health and the many prayers from family and friends have allowed him to overcome obstacles quickly that many don’t ever.  Surprisingly his trauma doctors are now discussing the possibility of discharge as early as next week.

For those of you that know Brett well know that he’s a great dad to three beautiful children.  Since our family lives so far apart, watching Brett's life via social media has been a joy.  His sense of humor and the unconditional love that he has for his children, family and friends is amazing.  No doubt those are the reasons why he’s worked so hard to pull through this trauma.

The level of care Brett needs is extremely expensive and the subsequent weeks, months and years will require many doctor’s visits; prosthesis to allow Brett to walk again; home medical equipment; home health visits; modifications to his house for ease of wheelchair use; medications; the list goes on an on.  Whether insured or not the financial strain can be debilitating.
