Supporting Brett in His Time of Need
We’d like to introduce you to our lifelong friend Brett Carter, an incredibly hard-working man, devoted husband to Leanne for 25 years, and father to Angus and Luci. In a tragic turn of events, Brett at an age of only 55 years old was recently incidentally diagnosed with Stage 4 terminal colorectal cancer an all too shocking and heartbreaking discovery, especially considering he had no symptoms to indicate something was wrong.
How did he find out with no symptoms?
How did this all unfold ?
While working, a colleague showed Brett a health check app on his phone, which led him to take a quick test. The result? It suggested he was living with the health of someone 20+ years older and highly stressed, prompting Brett to schedule a heart check. While this moment was humorous to his co-workers, it turned out to be a pivotal moment that has changed his and his families life forever.
What followed were a series of tests and scans, and unfortunately, the diagnosis was grim: Brett was dealing with an aggressive and confirmed terminal form of colorectal cancer which has spread through his body. For someone who has always prided himself on being fit, strong, and able to power through long, gruelling workdays, this was a devastating blow. Brett had never taken a sick day, worked tirelessly as a self-employed contractor in construction, and unfortunately has no insurance or financial safety net to fall back on.
With chemotherapy starting this week, Brett has been forced to stop work and the reality of no more further income from Brett for his family is overwhelming.
This family—who has always been there for others—now needs help from the community, from friends, family and kind hearted people, to assist with the tough tomorrows ahead.
The funds raised will go toward covering day-to-day expenses, bills, medical treatments, and any care Brett needs. But perhaps the most important thing to Brett is helping to provide for his wife, Leanne, and their children, Angus and Luci, once he is gone. This is not about a bucket list or extravagant wishes, but about easing the financial burden so Brett can focus on spending as much quality time as possible with his loved ones without the crushing weight of financial stress.
We want Brett to have the time he needs for recovery from Chemo and time to spend with family and friends with the comfort of knowing that his family will have the support they need after he’s gone.
Please consider donating to help Brett and his family during this incredibly difficult time. Your support will give them the ability to focus on what truly matters—each other—without worrying about the financial burdens that cancer has brought into their lives.
Thank you for your generosity and kindness.
Every little bit helps.
