Update from Rachael as of 10/24:
Brett has been home just less than two weeks. The boys could not be happier that Dad is home, even if things look a little different right now. He is still off work and we are not yet certain how long that will be. We are quickly learning that this is a marathon, not a sprint. His most significant struggle right now is sleep (or lack thereof) and exhaustion. This has been ongoing since the beginning of September, and frankly, he is OVER IT! The likely culprit is the steroids. He is easily fatigued, but, sees small improvements daily. We have learned to celebrate small victories and just try to slow down a bit. We met with the Rheumatologist and Neurologist this week and are hoping to begin infusions the beginning of November. Neurology ruled out any significant nerve damage, although he continues to have numbness and tingling in just 1 foot. They are confident this will just take time to heal. His weight loss was significant, but that slowly seems to be improving. This, and his voice (weak and hoarse) were hard on the boys because they’re not used to seeing Dad as weak. Every single day, he seems to look a little better, sound a little better, and feel a little stronger. The continued outpouring of love, offers to help, meals, and well wishes is extraordinary. I promise I will get around to thanking each and every one of you. There are still a lot of unknowns and questions as we continue this journey, but we are hopeful that the infusions will really be the catalyst to making him feel like himself again. For now, we take it one day at a time and hand it all to God. ♥️

Hoping to raise as much as we can for my brother, Brett’s, family. After a very long month of in and out of the hospital, it was confirmed he has ANCA Vasculitis, a rare autoimmune disease, he also suffered a heart attack. He’s finally home but is resting and letting his body recover for the time being. Brett is the sole provider for his family and my sister-in-law Rachael is a stay at home mom to the best three boys- Colin, Ethan and Dominic. Any funds will be used for all of his medical bills and any other expenses they are going to incur during this time. There is a treatment plan in place but this is going to be a long journey and any amount you’d be willing to give will help, we are all so grateful. Please feel free to share this. Thank you!
