Brett and Patti Rogers Medical Fund
For those who have not heard, Brett and Patti Rogers were in a serious accident early this morning while driving through Kansas. They were traveling to Iowa to see one of Brett's sons graduate from College.
Patti was driving and Brett was asleep in the passenger seat when they encountered black ice and the truck began to slide out of control. The truck rolled multiple times and came to a rest upright next to the freeway.
Both were pinned in the vehicle; Brett with rib, clavicle, and facial injuries, and Patti with multiple injuries including severe head trauma. It was nearly 30 minutes before emergency personnel arrived.
After being removed from the truck, they were taken in separate ambulances to Overland Regional Hospital where Patti is currently in Intensive Care.
Due to the severity of her injuries, the doctors are estimating a six month hospital stay for recovery and rehab.
(Update 12-19: Patti has made some improvements, but is still on a ventilator and the level of damage to the brain is still unknown. There is also a question of whether or not she will be able to see.)
(Update 12-29: Patti was unable to overcome the severity of the brain injuries she sustained and passed away this morning.)
Brett is now dealing with the loss of his closest friend and the love of his live, Patti, and with the financial burden this incredibly painful situation will heap upon him. He needs our compassion and financial support now more than ever.
This is a wonderful couple, both with huge loving hearts, who have always, by both words and deeds, shown how much they love each other and how much they cared for those around them. While the tragedy of losing Patti will undoubtedly leave an enormous void in the hearts of so many who knew her, the memory of her life should be one filled with smiles and joy.
This is the time when we can all show how much we care about both Brett and Patti. Please keep them in your prayers, and please make a generous donation to help offset the medical expenses incurred.
Thank you.
