It is with great sadness that we are dealing with the sudden loss of our great friend and retired Police Chief Bret Alemy. Bret, age 50, passed away suddenly on Thursday, January 4, 2024, in Orlando, Florida.

Bret was always there to help others and now we need to help his family during this devastating time. Bret was a true gentleman, tremendous leader and most importantly a loving family man.

Born in Wayne, New Jersey, to Richard Alemy and Rosanne (Lane) Huttman, Bret grew up in Stockholm and entered the military after high school. He served at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, where he met the love of his life, Jo Ann.

After exiting the military, he returned to his hometown, enlisting with the Hardyston Police Department as an officer in January 1998, eventually settling in Wantage in 2003. He then rose through the ranks to become Chief, retiring in 2020. Since retirement, he continued his pursuit of helping others by serving as the Vice President of Program Development for Law Enforcement Against Drugs And Violence (L.E.A.D.).

Bret is survived by his loving wife of thirty years and best friend Jo Ann; his three children, Alexis and her husband Mike, Nicholas and wife Morgan, and Brynne, all of whom he adored and he could not have been more proud of, his mother Rosanne Huttman and father Richard Alemy, his brother Eric, sister Beth, and many nieces and nephews.

Bret was a true friend to all who knew him and will be missed by all. Thoughts and prayers to the Alemy Family.

All proceeds will go directly to Joann and the Alemy Family.
