Hi friends & family!
As many of you know, I currently work at Loma Linda University Children's Hospital in the Pediatric Department. My goal is to attend medical school and become a Pediatrician. As I prepare myself for medical school, I am very fortunate to participate in a medical brigade this summer with my organization, Global Medical Brigades, at UCR. We will be traveling to Nicaragua for 9 days (Jun 20-Jun 29) to provide medical, dental, & public health services to local communities.
Since I will be graduating next spring, this will be my last opportunity to go on this trip. This is the perfect chance to get hands on experience that I could not get here in the United States.
I will be able to assess and prescribe medications to patients, under US doctor supervision. We have begun proper training and I have become educated on the types of diseases that are most common among the patients. UCR's GMB program has been very successful over the past few years. The citizens of Nicaragua are very thankful for the support that GMB offers. These citizens rely on us to provide these services, since a huge majority have never seen a doctor before. I have been so blessed to have access to great health care my entire life and would love the opportunity to give back and show support to Central America.
I have had a few fundraisers and donations so far, but I still need to raise more money for my trip. I would appreciate it very much if you could help me raise money for a trip of a lifetime!
