Brenttyn's Fight Is Our Fight Together

If you’ve had the opportunity of meeting Brenttyn “B” you would know just how smart, sweet, loving, nurturing, most patient and a kind hearted kid he is. So it is with such a heavy heart that I have to share his personal story before he even knows himself. On May 3rd I took him into the ER for fever thinking it was just a bug he caught that he couldn’t shake off. They did blood work and shortly after he had to be immediately transported to the PICU and was placed on a ventilator. The next day we got news that just completely turned our whole world upside down, our sweet boy was diagnosed with Leukemia. Because of his weakened immune system he caught a bacteria in his blood as well that sent him into septic shock leaving Drs and nurses to do all they could to save him. With all the meds he was given to resuscitate him, he unfortunately caught another rare infection called Steven Johnson Syndrome which is caused by a severe reaction to a drug he was given. He is still in the PICU and we are not sure how much longer he will be there as he is still fighting this agressive syndrome. Once he does wake up from all of this, he will barely be finding out himself that not only has he been battling these infections but now he has another battle that we will continue to fight together for years to come. I have been out of work to stay with him at the hospital and of course life still continues despite hardships. All donations raised will go towards medical and all other expenses incurred while I am out of work.
