Brent Taylor is an up and comer in the Pokemon TCG Junior Division and has now Qualified for the 2024 Pokemon World Championship taking place in Honolulu Hawaii this August 16-18th! At the local level he is the top player in the Clarksburg Area, and one of the few ranked players in West Virginia. At the Regional Level, he has posted a solid season this year ranking in at #61 in the U.S. and Canada with all his finishes in the Top 64 in 5 Regional Events so far, Pittsburgh, Peoria, Toronto, Charlotte, and Vancouver. We are scheduled to attend 2 more Regionals this year, Orlando April 12-14 and Indianapolis May 3-5 with the North American International Championships located in New Orleans, LA happening June 7-9. During these events we will continue to push to improve our game, practice for worlds and hope to improve our ranking. Unfortunately, we are out of stipend range so the Worlds trip falls directly on the family. The upcoming tournaments are feasible for our family to manage however, the trip to Honolulu is a on a whole different level. Some of the initial expenses include:
Flights (including baggage) $2000 for 2 Tickets (Round Trip)
Hotel (5 day Stay) $1000 (with close proximity to Event)
Food $500 (Average $60/day + Snacks/Drinks)
Incidentals $500 (Unexpected expenses of a Trip)
The Pokemon World Championship has released the date to be August 16-18th. With the dates release, these prices I have researched above are likely to change with more demand for travel. Players and their families will be booking accommodations as soon as they have solid dates of the event. As many know when it comes to travel, early planners see more discounts as travel prices rise closer to the time of the event. Over the many regionals we have traveled to this season, both by car and air, I have found this to be exceptionally true about the travel to and from Pokemon Regional Events.
My initial goal is to secure flight tickets as soon as possible as these be the most expensive, and most likely to increase in demand. After we secure travel, we will secure hotel accommodations within decent proximity of the event and within our price range to avoid transportation charges such as taxis or Uber. This is the main necessity to make the trip possible and your donations will DIRECTLY support this Brent’s Journey to Worlds. Each dollar donated will be used to follow the above plan in order to secure our trip and be able to focus solely on preparation. First with the Flights and second with the Hotel/Living Accommodations.
Any and all donations, of any amount are greatly appreciated! All donations will be met with a personal thank you message. Any Donations over $100 will receive a special gift from the Trip!
We have been working hard all season to get to this point, this far in the journey, completing MANY milestones on the way. The next step on his journey to become a Pokemon Master is to complete his dream of competing at Worlds! We will do whatever it takes to get him there, as we have been all season, but if you can find in your heart to help support us we will be forever grateful! We could not have gotten this far without those who have supported us along the way, from family, friends and the TCG Community, we are blessed to have such a wonderful environment for Brent. We are in a position similar to the “Olympics” of the Pokemon World - To be the Best, you have to Play the Best!
