On Saturday afternoon, April 2nd Brent suffered severe burns when a gas can ignited and exploded in his hands. He has 2nd, and 3rd degree burns to the front of his body. We are thankful for the quick response by friends and emergency crews. Brent was taken to Smithers hospital until he was medevacked to VGH Intensive Care Unit. He has been kept unconscious since shortly after arriving in Smithers and will continue to be unconscious for the next several days. He is currently stable and being closely monitored. He has been assigned an amazing burn team to work with him. He is scheduled for surgery for grafts on his legs , torso, arms, hands, neck and face on Thursday. Sherrie, Cameron and Breanne are currently in Vancouver with Brent. Although Brent is unconcious, there is a possibility he is aware of his surroundings so when the family isn’t talking to him, they play Hair Nation radio station in the background.

Brent will likely be in Vancouver in the burn unit for a minimum of 4 weeks as long as there are no complications but will have many months of treatments and therapy after the initial surgeries.

Any financial support will be used for travel and accommodation to assist the family in being by his side. There are accommodation rentals available for families of burn unit patients that they are transitioning into. Brent will have a lengthy recovery, and any words of encouragement on this page will be greatly appreciated. We will update this page with his progress in order to keep everyone informed as the family isn’t able to respond to all the messages of support they are receiving.
