Hello,

My name is Karrie and I am part of a committee with Meghan, Hannah, Andrea, Wendy and Gareth. This committee is in the process of organizing a memorial space for our dear friend and colleague Brent, who we sadly lost last year. Brent was someone who cared deeply about others and spent his professional life helping as many people as he could. He assisted those facing homelessness through his position at Streets To Homes. Brent was such an admirable person, he worked tirelessly to improve the lives of those around him. Most days he was the first one at the office and the last to leave.

We have confirmed our proposal with The City of Toronto to have a bench and plaque placed in Brent's memory in Allen Gardens, a park that Brent spent a great deal of time in working with clients and our team. He would often spend time under a particular tree when he was at the park and that is where we would like to have the bench placed. In addition to the bench, we also intend to plant a small garden, which will require maintenance.

We are hoping to commemorate our friend by the end of this year, to have a place that people can go to celebrate and remember him. We are doing this as individuals who cared for him and do not have financial backing for this endeavor. Because of that, we are asking anyone who is able to, to donate to the garden and memorial place for Brent.

Costs

The following are the various costs for this memorial space:

• A newly installed bench with an engraved metal plaque

(Fee: $2,530.00)

Garden Flowers, soil, and gardening tools to maintain the garden for five years. $200.00 per year.

$ 1000.00

Upkeep Costs may vary depending on what the garden needs.

Grand Opening of the Garden

Refreshments: $500.00

Plus applicable taxes, unforeseen costs and Go Fund Me fees.

Any additional funds left over will be donated to a charity in memory of Brent to be chosen by his family.

Brent touched so many lives and having a space to remember him would mean so much to so many people.
