Brent & Cynthia's beautiful home in Butte Creek Canyon was destroyed by the Camp fire.

Over the last 30 years Brent & Cynthia have welcomed so many people into their home. Whenever anyone was in need, going through a hard time, or just needing a friend, their home was open. The list of people who found temporary shelter in their home is too many to count.
When the evacuation order came, they had guests staying through Airbnb, and being a "Superhost" in the truest sense of the word, Cynthia gathered their guest's things as she was evacuating (sacrificing space that could have been used to rescue their own belongings) and made a special trip to Oroville meet her guests and deliver their things before driving up to Oregon.
Brent, 69 years old, stayed at the house trying to prepare for the fire and defend it, setting up sprinklers and moving wood away from the house. He said burning embers were falling from the sky everywhere and he had less than 10 feet of visibility when a fireman found him and forced him to leave. He said the entire canyon was on fire top to bottom on his way out. He ended up sleeping in an emergency shelter overnight.
The three beloved family cats, Hobbes, Ziggy, and Panda were not able to be rescued.
Brent and Cynthia have immediate needs for basic living as homeless evacuees. Brent doesn't even have a change of clothes. They are unsure of where they will be staying in the coming weeks and months. Evacuating created a lot of unexpected expenses that they were not prepared for.
This GoFundMe is initially to help offset some of that.
We found out that the house, the belongings, and the carport will all be covered by insurance, but there is a $2,500 deductible for each of those, totalling $7,500. We aren't sure if living expenses will be covered in the meantime.
