Brent Adler's Legacy: Educate with Faith

Running in Honor of Brent Adler – Supporting Christian Education

Hello, my name is Josh Klug, and I’ve set up this GoFundMe as I train to run the Cedarburg, WI Half Marathon on Saturday, May 24th, in memory of my very good friend, Brent Adler.

Brent went home to his Heavenly Father in April of last year after collapsing while training for a half marathon. To honor his legacy, all funds raised will go toward the scholarship fund at Our Savior Lutheran School in Brent’s name — helping more children receive the Christ-centered education that Brent valued so deeply.

Brent and I met in 1993 while attending Concordia University Wisconsin. After graduating in 1996, Brent married Denise Gehrke and moved to Arlington, VA, where she began teaching 2nd grade at Our Savior Lutheran School.

In February of 1998, my wife Sarah and I attended a wedding in Springfield, IL, where we happened to be seated at the same table as Brent and Denise. During our conversation, they told us about teaching openings at Our Savior Lutheran — and by July, we had moved to Arlington. From that point on, our friendship with Brent and Denise only deepened.

Brent and Denise were blessed with four children. Ethan was born in Arlington. Faith, their second child, was born in Illinois but passed away shortly after birth. Though her time on Earth was brief, they were grateful for every moment with her. Their daughters Belle and Lacey completed their beautiful family.

Brent loved his family fiercely. He was intentional about raising his children to know and follow Jesus. He cared deeply about their faith, their character, and their growth as children of God. Education was one of Brent’s greatest strengths, and he dedicated his life to helping others experience the blessing of a Christ-centered education.

I invite you to consider donating in honor of Brent — to continue the mission he lived for, and to give other children the same kind of opportunity through the scholarship fund at Our Savior Lutheran School.
