Brennen Ostmeyer is the 3 year old son of Jason and LeAnn Ostmeyer. He has a silly, ornery, strong willed, yet oh so caring personality. He's always on the go, and loves playing outside! Anyone who meets him, comments on his big blue eyes and ornery smile. He steals the hearts of everyone he meets. When Brennen was 19 months old, he was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma, an extremely rare, aggressive form of childhood cancer. A day later, little brother Carter was born a month premature. Brennen went through 42 weeks of weekly chemotherapy and 6 weeks of radiation. We traveled weekly from Colby, KS to Denver, CO. During radiation, we lived in Denver. Brennen was in remission for 6 months following the treatment. On January 7, 2015, just weeks before his 3rd birthday, scans and a biopsy showed that Brennen's cancer had returned. He will be enduring another 40 weeks (10 months) of weekly chemo and another 6 weeks of radiation. These weekly treatments are more intense and require inpatient hospital stays. Due to his blood counts dropping significantly, his doctor recommended that we stay in Denver in case he needs blood transfusions. Occasionally we get to come back to Colby for a couple days here and there, when his counts allow. So our family of four, is uprooted and living in a big city, far from home. Jason travels back and forth from Colby to Denver, so that he can work as much as possible between treatments. I, LeAnn, continue to stay with the boys. Due to the intense treatment plan and being tied to Denver, it will be quite some time before I can start bringing in a second income. Between medical bills, extensive traveling, and the fact that we are currently living on one teacher's income, our financial situation can be very daunting.
