Brendley to NSLC

Earlier this year a teacher nominated me for the National Student Leadership Conference (NSLC) for international diplomacy. I applied and was recently accepted to serve. For ten days in July, I will take part in a simulation as an advocate for a country - attending briefings and visiting the United Nations, Foreign Embassies, and the State Department while staying at Georgetown University. At the NSLC, I will have the opportunity to participate in leadership workshops on such topics as effective communication, ethical decision-making, public speaking, and conflict resolution. In addition, I will participate in lectures and discussions with world leaders to provide me with a better understanding of international diplomacy and world affairs.
I am excited about this opportunity as I have been interested in current events and paying attention to matters beyond my locale since I was in elementary school. Seeing inequality and injustice and the devastating effects they have on communities, even then, sparked my desire to change the world. Taking part in the NSLC allows me to continue my intellectual development, expand my ability to lead and influence my school and community, and change the world for the better.
The lectures, workshops, and programs included in the NSLC cost $2800. I have received the maximum scholarship of $750 from the conference organizers. Would you consider contributing to help defray the cost of this amazing opportunity? The money is due May 15th. Your financial support in any amount will make a big difference in helping me attend the NSLC. To learn more about the NSLC please visit http://bit.ly/intldip-nslc. If you have any questions please contact me at [email redacted]
Thank you for your consideration!
Sincerely,
Brendley Nathaniel
