Dearest Friends & Family,
Brenden Marcy—beloved son, brother, father, uncle and friend—tragically passed away while on a snorkeling trip in Turks & Caicos. He was just shy of his 48th birthday. Brenden loved everything about the ocean, and his last days were spent with family doing what he enjoyed most. So many have shared stories about Brenden—highlighting his wonderful sense of humor, loving and generous heart, service to our country, and his unwavering dedication and loyalty to his kids, family, friends, and even strangers. With his big-hearted willingness to serve, he’d always be the first to step up and help anyone in any way possible.
Above all, Brenden was a loving and devoted father. He made the decision years ago to move his family to Connecticut to be closer to family and give his kids the chance to grow academically and athletically. Life-long learning was of utmost importance to Brenden. Exercising one’s mind and body were tenets he lived by daily. He was excited to continue his career in medicine once his children were on their own collegiate path. Additionally, Brenden not only promoted the betterment of his children, but he was a mentor to many Simsbury youth. He devoted his spare time to coaching youth football and teaching smart weight training during the pandemic.
Brenden’s life was tragically cut too short. In this trying time, we mourn Brenden and we mourn the loss of his dreams. But, we can honor his legacy by supporting education and scholarship. We have established this GoFundMe page to help fund a scholarship that will bear his name. We are asking all who knew and loved Brenden and who have expressed care, concern and asked for ways to help, to please consider donating a monetary gift in memory of Brenden through the Brenden C. Marcy Legacy Education Fund.
Thank you,
Abby Gardner and Vanessa Manko
