In October 2008 I married my best friend and the rock of my life Mark Young.  We had finally found each other and were planning our "happily ever after" life together.  In August of 2009 while Mark was completing his 30th year with the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office in Shalimar, Florida he was involved in a car accident where a young woman who was texting ran into his patrol car.  He is still suffering pain from back, leg and neck injuries from this accident.  Mark managed to work through the pain from his injuries  and retired later that year.   He cannot work due to his injuries and is now on disability.    We decided to start a new chapter in our life late in 2012 and moved to Tennessee.  We bought a home on a lake in the mountains near Chattanooga.    Early in 2017, I started having pain in my abdomen and saw a Doctor.   After two ultrasounds, three CT scans and a biopsy it was discovered that I have High Stage 3 to Stage 4 Primary Peritoneal/Ovarian Cancer.   Prior to my illness I had taken a job with a relatively new business that does not provide health insurance.  I did not qualify for help with Obamacare and the premiums  were more money per month than my paycheck.  I had taken out a temporary policy that I could afford in 2016 that expires in June 2017.   I do not qualify for any other insurance coverage because of these pre-existing conditions.  I am currently undergoing chemotherapy treatments after which there will be aggressive surgery where the surgeon will do a complete hysterectomy and also take anything that has cancer.  This could include other organs.  There will be a very long recovery time.  After recovery from the surgery  I will have more chemotherapy treatments.    I am unable to work due to the pain and my inability to focus and concentrate on my work.  I have been approved for disability but I am required to be out of work for five months and payments will not start until November.  Since my insurance runs out in June and disability will not pay until November, we will need the funds to be available for payment of treatment quickly.    Anyone who knows me well, knows that the LAST thing I ever want to do is ask for help.  Everyone that knows about my illness has asked me "What can we do to help?"   It has come down to this.  We do need help.   We need money in order to continue treatment.  I need this chance for recovery to be able to see my three year old grandson Andrew grow up, spend more time with my daughter and step-sons, with Mark, the love of my life, and friends and family.      Any amount that you can give as our friends and family will be very much appreciated.  Thank you.
