Brenda's Medical Bill's & Living Expenses
Donation protected
Hi All,
My name is Bri, I am one of Brenda's younger sisters. I am fundraising for Brenda to assist in covering her out of pocket medical expenses & living expenses.
****UPDATE****
Brenda's condition has been diagnosed as having an Intracerebral Hemmorage (ICH) on the left side of her brain. It occurred on 2/24/24 & she was not admitted to the hopstial until 2/28/24. She was brought into the ER with her Blood Pressure in the 240s. We are lucky she is alive.
An Intracerebral Hemmorage is caused by bleeding within the brain tissue itself - a life threatening type of stroke. A stroke occurs when the brain is deprived of oxygen and blood supply. ICH is most ocmmonly caused by hypertension, arteriovenous malformations, or head trauma. In Brenda's case, it was caused by Chronic Hypertension that she was unaware of. It can affect anyone no matter your age. Please buy a blood pressure monitor & review with a Doctor/Nurse on how to check your BP correctly & please do not ignore the signs.
She has a long road to recovery ahead of her. She currently can walk assisted by a walker & nurses balancing her but even just standing up takes all of her energy so she only attempts to walk when the PT comes by to check on her progress. She favors her left side since that is the side of her brainthe bleed occurred on. Majority of her energy is exhausted by standing momentarily to go from her hospital bed to her chair, etc.
Brenda has extreme aphasia (speech issues) & I noticed the more phyically exhausted she is the rougher time she has with her aphasia along with facial recognition. She is fluent in American Sign Language however her aphasia affects her signing as well. Brenda has severe short term memory loss & some long term memory loss. She cannot write let alone draw at this time - which is something she has always used to express her creativity.
As of 3/11/24 Brenda has been transported to the rehabilitation center where she will receive Physical, Occupational, & Speech Therapy. We were able to find a facility in Issaquah thankfully so she is now close to home.
Hearing from her friends what she means to them and how she has positivly impacted their lives by her selfless, giving, and free spirited nature has been a true light for us.
Thank you everyone who has donated or is donating we are floored by the absolute outpour of love & support for Brenda. Every share of her gofundme helps big time. Please keep her in your prayers or keep sending the positive vibes her way - whatever way that speaks to you we are so appreciative. Thank you so much for being apart of her recovery & her chosen family.

On Wednesday 2/28/2024 at around 2:30a Brenda was found inchoerent on her living room floor and 911 was called. She was admitted to the Neuro Critical Care Unit nearby & is currently under care in that unit. It has since been determined that she passed out due to her High Blood Pressure which caused brain bleeds. Thankfully she did not have an aneurism - this was confirmed by further testing via a procedure where they use a camera through an artery to view the brains current physical state while she is under anesthesia.
Brenda has a decent amount of memory loss which we are hoping improves each day. She is undergoing multiple cat scans/MRI's to monitor the swelling in her brain. Her progress in her recovery is currently dependent on the swelling decreasing. She needs assistance eating, but is able to chew and swallow. As the swelling goes down our hope is that she becomes more cognitive. She is not very mobile, can not stand for long unassisted. The Doctors are hoping after the next MRI or two that the swelling in her brain has decreased to move her out of the Critical Care Unit, she needs to be stable enough though for them to do so.
During Brenda's recovery she will be unable to work & she has a long road to recovery ahead of her. We are hoping to raise enough money to cover her rent, out of pocket medical expenses that are currently accruing, the medical costs for rehabilitaion when she gets discharged from the hospital, & cost to transition her hopefully back into her independence - which is entirely dependant on what she able to recover cognitively & otherwise.
If you know Brenda, you know she is the brightest person in any given room always. She is literally a boisterous beam of rainbows & is always a fun time - truly the life of the party. She is a wonderful Auntie to her nephews - as you can imagine, they absolutely adore her as much as she adores them. I look up to her view on life & living in the moment so much, & it has been devestating to see her indepence ripped away from her due to all of this. She loves her family & friend unconditionally & is a great sister to Brielle & I.
She puts her all into everything she does, so I am optimistic her rebahilitation will be no different & we can foresee her strong will pushing her through this.
We want to do all that we can to get her on the road to recovery & elimate any stressers but especially the financial stressers. Please donate if you can, & if you cannot donate, please reshare this link to our fundraising efforts.
On behalf of her entire family, THANK YOU
