Brenda’s Fight to Recovery
Donation protected
Yesterday, Brenda suffered what was first believed to be a seizure but was soon discovered to be a stroke caused by a life-threatening brain aneurysm and bleed. She was immediately transported to Denver, where neurosurgeons at Swedish Hospital performed an emergency procedure to relieve the pressure on her brain. The medical team is closely monitoring her and waiting for the swelling to decrease before they can move forward with the critical surgery to repair the aneurysm. At this time, we will not know more until after the operation, but we will continue to share updates from Bryce and Braxton, as they come.
Brenda is deeply loved and has always been one to generously help so many in our community when they needed it. Now, in this unimaginable moment, it’s our turn to show up for her and her family. Many have asked how they can help, and we wanted to create this space where friends, family, and community members can contribute directly to help with Brenda’s mounting medical expenses and provide some relief to her loved ones during this difficult journey.
Every donation, no matter the size, will make a difference and remind Brenda and her family that they are not facing this alone. All donations will go directly towards her RNB account! Thank you for keeping them in your thoughts and prayers and for rallying around them with love and support.
UPDATE!! 8/26
We’re so relieved to share some very encouraging news. The neurosurgeons were able to successfully treat the aneurysm using a procedure where they threaded coils through her main artery to the aneurysm in her brain. This caused it to clot, preventing it from rupturing. The surgeon said everything went exactly as planned and looks very good.
Since then, Brenda has made incredible progress. Her breathing tube is out, she’s talking, alert, and even beginning to try walking already! These are all wonderful signs, though it will still take time to fully understand the extent of her recovery as she continues to heal and undergo neurological testing.
If everything continues on track, she’ll likely spend about three more weeks in the ICU before moving on to the next phase of recovery.
We are beyond grateful for the prayers, love, and support you’ve shown. Brenda’s strength and determination, combined with your encouragement, mean the world right now. ❤️
