Brenda's Fight: A Journey of Hope and Healing

Donation protected
On October 8, 2024, Brenda McCarthy had a hemorrhagic stroke. She had just parked at her work and thankfully a co-worker saw and called 911. She has been in the NCCU (Neuro critical care unit) and is still in critical condition there.

Brenda worked full time and has a husband and three children. The family has been holding things together as Brenda is fighting for her life.

She recently had a tracheostomy to remove the ventilator. She still has a shunt on the left side of her head and we are hoping they can safely remove it and not need a permanent shunt.

Brenda is not verbal and not awake yet. She was in a self induced coma and now the doctors are saying she is now in a "vegetative state" or "post- coma unresponsiveness". She has been able to respond with her fingers and arm movement and even nodded her head recently. These are all great signs of functioning brain activity! Her left side is currently not moving and all movement has been happening on her right side.

She grew up in the Pacific Northwest and their family relocated to Rhode Island in 2020.

When Brenda was 3 yrs old she suddenly couldn't walk. She had a benign brain tumor surgically removed from her brain. She relearned how to walk and made a full recovery. When she was 19 and pregnant with her first child her doctors wanted a new scan to see how her brain looked for being able to give birth. They found she had a reoccurrence and a tumor was back. Her sister received prayer on her behalf and had a vision that she was fully healed. Flash forward 22 yrs...A few days after this stroke when she was stable they were able to get a new MRI and found that the tumor is indeed gone!

Brenda has a story of hope and healing to share with the world. She has lived 42 years of life as a walking miracle. Her next miracle is in the waiting and we are believing for it to come about!

This page is set up for friends and family near and far who are able or want to help their family as so many things are unknown right now. The family has had some help with meals through a local meal train.

Two kids are grown and live at home and one kid is a senior in high school. The older kids are working less to be with the family and be able to spend time with their mom at the hospital.

The medical bills are yet to pour in and this is to help ease the loss of Brenda's income and hopefully help cover bills as they begin to come in. It's also to provide a tangible way for people who love Brenda and their family to bless them and help cover any needs.

Thank you to all of the hundreds of people who are praying across the nation and following updates. We are believing Brenda will once again experience another miracle!
