Hi, my name is Diana, and I'm fundraising for my sister Brenda. If you haven't met Brenda, she is the nicest, most loving human. She will give you anything and everything to make you feel safe, loved, and special. Brenda keeps a lot to herself; she won't complain if she's hurting, or she won't ask anyone for anything even though she needs it.

Brenda was diagnosed with stage 2 cervical cancer in early July, and since then, she's had to worry about how she will pay for the high cost of treatment and medication. The American Healthcare system has not been her friend; as we all know, America ranks last despite having the most expensive healthcare system. This is compared with at least six other industrialized countries. Brenda can't apply under the Affordable Care Act because she has DACA status. She was denied Medi-cal because she "makes too much." Fortunately, her employer was able to get her private medical insurance to cover her chemotherapy and radiation. But because she does not have a qualifying event, her insurance won't cover her medical expenses until January 1, 2023. Brenda started chemotherapy on December 5th, along with radiation.

Someone battling cancer should not have to worry about additional medical costs. I made this account to help Brenda with other expenses. I’m asking everyone (family and friends) to help with anything you can. She will appreciate this very much <3
