Brendan shattered a disc in his lower back. A piece of that disc impinged on his spinal cord, causing paralysis from the waist down.  After initially being told he’d never walk again, he has already made remarkable progress towards recovery. He still has partial paralysis in both legs, but with the aid of crutches he can move about. Obviously he has a long road ahead of him, but with his usual good humor and determination, I’m confident he will make a good recovery. 

Besides the physical challenges he’s facing, there are financial ones too. He is not able to fly, and so is not able to earn a pay cheque. The disability policy he has, which pays approximately half his salary, only kicks in after 90 days. My goal is to raise some money to alleviate some of that financial stress and allow him to focus on getting back to flying fit.
