Brendan has always had a "Rockstar" perception of himself. He always thought it would be great if he could have HIS people call YOUR people!! Unfortunately, Brendan also realized at a young age he had no musical talent and was completely tone deaf, so PEOPLE weren’t a given.

But when Brendan, like Forrest Gump, decided to go for a run one day back in March of 1997 he decided to not just run – but to run the ’97 NYC Marathon that fall!

Training for a marathon is a gigantic undertaking that requires daily training, discipline, and unwavering belief it can be done! It also requires a dedicated and supportive network of support people. People that made sure you have everything you needed (race number, earbuds, hat etc.), give rides to preliminary races, be there with water as you pass, pack extra socks, band-aids and have candy in their pockets (basically they carry your sh*t for you), and most importantly, they are there cheering you on every step of the way. And, of course, there to celebrate once you cross the finish line!

Brendan also set himself an aggressive goal to complete the Marathon in under 4 four hours! So, with lots of training, determination, grit and a touch of luck – with his people by his side the whole way - less than 8 months later Brendan crushed his goal and finished with a time of 3:57 and with that BRENDAN’S PEOPLE was formed.

In the beginning, it was a small contingent made up of Mom, Dad, Sheila, and me. As Brendan set his sights on the next challenge, more PEOPLE joined.

In January of 1998 Brendan entered the Morris County Police Academy 51st class. Now “his people” were there to make sure his uniforms were cleaned & pressed, all the brass was shined, making sure he had all his sh*t in order and oddly enough even to help shave his head, he would ALWAYS nick himself whenever he tried to it alone.

In 2000 Brendan volunteered to fill a vacant rider spot for the Police Unity Tour. So, with less than a months’ notice Brendan began training for the Tour, a 300+ MILE Bicycle Ride! And with that decision BRENDAN’S PEOPLE were recalled into action! They were there for every pedal, supporting him while training in NJ, proudly stood and shouted at the Kick-off in NJ, cheered along the route, and traveled to DC to celebrate as he crossed the finish - all while still carrying his sh*t.

Brendan (and his people) went on to complete this tour an additional 5 times over the following years and hopes to complete it once again so his kids can be there to see him accomplish this goal.

In 2013 one of Brendan’s biggest and BEST challenges came in the form of twins named Braden and Rory, aka the Twinado’s. Brendan’s PEOPLE once again stepped up to be there to help and are still working hard at it today. And not only did PEOPLE carry their sh*t, but now we have to clean it up too.

Unfortunately, Brendan’s PEOPLE are being called into action once again. In September Brendan was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer, Brendan is now challenged with the “run”, and “ride” of his life.

So, for all of you who have reached out and offered encouragement, help, rides, food, conversation with a cup of tea and course prayers - YOU are officially now his PEOPLE! All encouragement, jokes, stories, and love are welcome.

So, from a VERY humbled and grateful family – thank you all for standing up and offering to help, and congratulations on becoming the newest members of BRENDAN'S PEOPLE!
