Brenda Joyce Reilly, 75, of New Fairfield, CT passed away on January 18, 2021, in Danbury, CT.

In lieu of flowers, we are dedicating a memorial bench to remember Brenda that will be placed in her favorite spot overlooking the ocean on Long Beach Island, as well as a memorial in her hometown of New Fairfield, CT.

Brenda was born in Yonkers, NY to Andrew Fischer and Emma Pavlovsky on June 27th, 1945.  She was a loving sister to older brother Andrew and younger brother Richard.  Brenda went to Yonkers High School, graduating in 1963.  After earning her Associate’s Degree at Berkeley secretarial school, Brenda went on to marry her neighborhood sweetheart from the same Elliott Avenue block, Michael Reilly.  They were married at Sacred Heart Church in Yonkers, NY in 1968.

Brenda started her career on Madison Avenue in New York at J. Walter Thompson and worked in the Graybar Building. Shortly after, she gave birth to her first son named Michael, on February 5th, 1974.  The new parents soon packed up the baby and moved from Yonkers to New Fairfield, CT in October of 1974. They settled on Ball Pond Road near family and other fellow New York transplants who would soon become lifelong friends. On August 15th, 1977, Brenda and Michael welcomed another baby boy named Matthew into the world, followed by their youngest son, Craig, on January 22, 1981.  Brenda loved these boys so fiercely and dedicated her whole life to make sure they succeeded.

Brenda spent a few years raising her three sons and then returned to work at IBM Headquarters in Armonk as an Executive Assistant, where she remained for 25 years.  At IBM she was a cherished mother figure to many colleagues, developing close bonds that still endure today.  Brenda went on to get numerous work awards and was proud to travel to Sydney, Australia, and Atlanta, GA to work on the Olympic Games for IBM. Brenda retired from IBM in 2010.

Brenda loved the sun, the beach, and the ocean.  Brenda enjoyed vacations in Montauk, NY as a child and then often took her own young family there as an adult.  Brenda had a fondness for the beauty of Cape Cod, vacationing there during her working years.  Most recently, Brenda loved to spend as much time as she could on Long Beach Island, NJ, where she made so many precious memories always surrounded by family and friends.

Brenda will be remembered as strong, warm, and gentle.  She had an incredible sense of humor and was the kindest woman around who put family first.  She was beyond loving and a caring person that touched everyone who crossed her path.  Brenda was the rock of her family.  She was also a selfless pillar in the community, attending St. Edward’s in New Fairfield where she taught CCD years ago.  Brenda also volunteered her time in NYC to feed 9/11 first responders and treasured her time with her friends at the YMCA.  She was always excited to join dinner dates with multiple groups of friends and loved listening, laughing, and reminiscing during those gatherings.

Brenda, without a doubt, sacrificed so much of herself and her personal life for her children and grandchildren.  Brenda was proud to spend many consecutive years cheering on her sons at ball fields and hockey rinks all over CT and NY, logging more baseball, football, and hockey games than one could ever count. And she loved every minute of it. She was a shoulder to lean on for those lucky enough to be close to her and a mother figure to an entire community.

Brenda loved her boys so deeply and unconditionally. Her boys absolutely loved their mother. She meant everything to them…they are honored to be her sons and consider themselves the luckiest men in the world to have her as their mother.

Brenda is preceded in death by her parents Emma and Andrew Fischer.

Brenda is survived by Michael Reilly and her sons Michael, Matthew, and wife Amanda, as well as Craig and wife Jessica. Brenda is also survived by her beloved older brother Andrew Fischer, who she loved dearly. Brenda leaves behind grandchildren Mason, Emma, and Hannah from her son Michael, as well as Stella and Samuel from son Matthew. Brenda is also grandmother to a soon-to-be-born grandson from son Craig. Brenda is proudly holding him now in heaven before he comes into this world in the next few weeks.

Brenda also leaves behind countless dear friends as well as many in-laws, nephews, and nieces on both the Fischer and Reilly side that truly loved their Aunt Brenda.

A small, private viewing will be held at Green Funeral Home in Danbury, CT on Monday, January 25th from 9 am – 10 am followed by a funeral service at 10 am.  Burial will be held on Monday, January 25th at 12:45 pm at Mount Hope Cemetery in Hastings on Hudson, NY.  The family plans to hold a larger Memorial Service later in 2021 in New Fairfield, CT.

Arrangements are by Green Funeral Home in Danbury, CT.

We appreciate all your stories, thoughts, prayers, love, well wishes and support for Brenda.  Every message makes us stronger, helps us heal and gives us the solace we need to ensure Brenda lives on in our hearts and minds.

All our love and thanks,
Reilly Family
