Brenda's Retirement Dreams, Hopes & Wishes
Donation protected
As many of you likely know, Brenda Kostiuk is retiring after 45 years of public service work. In the summer of 2018, Brenda was diagnosed with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) which attacks the neurons controlling voluntary muscles and the nerves of the body that would normally send messages from the brain to the muscles. ALS patients can expect a reduced ability to speak, increased muscle weakness and difficulty with breathing and swallowing--- the result is often a lively, unimpaired mind trapped in an immobilized body. As there is no cure for ALS, at present, the average life expectancy from symptom onset is two to five years.
Fortunately for Brenda, the progression of ALS is not so quick and she is still able to drive and maintain some mobility. With this in mind and in keeping with her wishes for no gifts on her retirement, we would like to begin collecting funds so that she is able to afford an all-expenses paid round-trip while she is still able to travel or whatever she wishes to use the proceeds for. We would like to provide you with the opportunity to help us support her wishes. Many thanks to you in advance for your generosity!
