A prominent member of our community has endured some tragedy and needs our help. You may know Brenda as the owner of BB’s Feed, or you may know her from her years of managing the local VFW.

On the evening of Tuesday, September 9th, Brenda and her son Chris arrived back home from work. They found the kitchen in flames and the entire house filled with smoke.

No one was in the home, but her precious fur babies were. They opened all the doors in order to get her dogs out. However, the smoke and flames were too overwhelming to go inside. She went to the front window and busted through the glass with her fist in order to provide more openings for the puppy. She was able to call 911 services and have the fire department dispatched while Chris grabbed a fire extinguisher to help put out the fire.

Amazingly, between them all, they were able to get all dogs and cats out. Three of the dogs had lung damage and needed medical attention. Oj, one of her pups, had to be admitted to the hospital with 2nd-degree burns to his eyes and bad lung damage. He was kept there for a couple of days on oxygen. He is now at home recovering with everyone. Brenda has lacerations on her arm from breaking the glass and had to get stitches.

The home is unlivable and is being assessed for repairs, and there will be a long road ahead for Brenda and her family. Thankfully, the insurance company has been prompt in response and encouraging in the coverage of costs.

The costs that are not covered are the medical costs of her fur babies and her medical costs as well as a deductible for insurance. Those costs are estimated to reach beyond $12,000. (Not including costs of household goods and living expenses)

Please consider giving any amount you can to help Brenda and her family.
