My friend Brenda Chester was diagnosed with cancer today. She doesn't have all of the details yet, but the CT scan shows that it is in her bones. Her doctor says she needs to go to the Mayo Clinic for further diagnosis and treatment. Unfortunately, Brenda doesn't have health insurance, so along with the overwhelming stress of her illness & upcoming treatments, she will have the stress of impending medical bills.
The financial burden that lies ahead for Brenda & Eric is so much greater than any one of us can imagine or help with on our own, so that is where this Go fund me account comes in. Those of you that know Brenda, know that she is one of the sweetest people on this earth. She truly has a heart of Gold! Most of you know, but maybe many don't, that she and Eric care for over 80 animals that live with them. Sounds shocking, but they do it because they love the animals so much. They have taken in the old, the broken and the unwanted and given them a place to be loved for the rest of their days. They are not a charity, so they do this all on their own. Basically, they work to care for these animals. Now, with her cancer diagnosis, She and Eric are going to need all of the love, prayers, support & help that they can get from their family and friends. Eric posted this on his FB page tonight:
"Ok, so for the past six months or so, Brenda has had some pain in her back on her left side just below the ribcage. It progressively has gotten worse to the point where I insisted she go see Dr. Braeutigam. (Like me, Binna doesn't go to the doctors office willingly). After three x-rays he couldn't find a problem. So he ordered a CT scan. The news we received was devastating. Binna has cancer in her bones. We have an appointment with a Oncologist at the Mayo Clinic Cancer Center at St. Vincent's Riverside. We will learn more after the visit. I am asking all of my friends to please pray, I mean PRAY HARD for my Binna. She is the most wonderful person I've ever known. Loving, caring, compassionate, humble, unselfish and a heart that's made of pure 24kt gold. She is a special soul and she means the world to me. I'd be lost without her. So please please please please PRAY for her. I ask nothing other than prayer. God bless you all and GOD BLESS MY BEST FRIEND BINNA."
Brenda & Eric did not ask me to start this go fund me account. I have just taken it upon myself to do so as I know their burden will be great & I know they will be humbled by any donation given. Those of you that know Eric, know that he has paid it forward more times than each of us can count. It's our turn now.
I will update on Brenda as information about her illness and treatment becomes available.
