Families, including friends we consider family, are much like a beautiful quilt. Each patch is unique, each patch tells a story and when woven together with the strong bonds that bind us, the quilt is not only beautiful, it is warm, comforting and safe.
Sometimes a patch wears thin, or starts to unravel and everyone in the family circle is quick to come together to fix it. One patch needing attention must be attended to or our quilt will never be the same.
And so, it is with one of the patches in the Irish Club quilt. One of our patches is stretched very thin and need attention. Brenda Cahill has been diagnosed with grade 3, stage 2 breast cancer. Her treatment plan is aggressive and expensive.
If you know Brenda, she is full of joy, love and strength. She is facing this battle head on with a positive outlook, humour and an unstoppable spirit.
We have started a GoFundMe to help Brenda ease her mind and with the financial burden she bears to allow her to fight her cancer and win. There is a lot to worry about, as a single parent taking care of her daughter Sydney, reduced income due to taking a leave of absence from work, medical expenses, day to day cost of living and of course the toll that chemo and radiation takes on your mind, body and spirit.
