Bren's Medical Fund

Bren Andrew Villeneuve was born on October 18, 2017. When he was born he had meconium in his lungs and the doctors had to help Bren breathe. Bren was then taken to American Family Children's Hospital and admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

Once in the NICU, Bren went through cold therapy where they cooled his body down for 72 hours. During that time, Bren began to have seizures. The staff were able to control his seizures with medications. After the 72 hours they began to bring Bren back up to body temperature. Bren had a difficult time getting back to body temperature and began to have more seizures. Once again the seizures were controlled, Bren finally made it to a normal body temperature.

At this point, the doctors were able to conduct an MRI. The results of the MRI show that Bren has severe brain damage from a lack of oxygen to the brain either before or during delivery. The chance of him developing normally is slim and the chance for him having some degree of cerebral palsy is high. Bren will likely need a variety of therapies for the rest of his life, starting at a very young age.

As parents, we want Bren to grow up knowing this is not what defines him but just an obstacle to overcome.

We appreciate your support in getting Bren the treatment and therapy he will need.

With love,
Sam and Drew
