2 years ago my younger brother, Harry, was diagnosed with a brain tumour and had surgery to remove it. Whilst he thankfully was a part of the small portion of those with non-cancerous tumours, there are hundreds of people that are unfortunately not as lucky.
I have recently found myself saying “No thank you” or “I can’t afford to donate at the moment” to several charities, however I always seem to find the money for a daily coffee, breakfast out on the weekends or drinks (and generally a few lol) with friends. As a result, I have decided to organise monthly “Brekkies for Brain Cancer” at my house where we can all cook, spend time together and donate the money that we would usually spend out towards the Cure Brain Cancer Foundation which focuses on investment in research, advocacy and awareness activities.
I personally truly appreciate the nature of modern research, and after personally spending several days waiting to hear if cancer treatment was another hurdle that my brother would have to encounter, I want to be able to help in any way I can.
We will be hosting a fundraising breakfast in Melbourne in October, where we will be able to donate the money that we would usually spend eating out, towards the amazing work being done by this organisation.
So so much love xx
More information about Cure Brain Cancer Foundation: As brain cancer is a rare disease, there has been limited investment in finding a cure and survival rates have not changed much in 30 years. Cure Brain Cancer Foundation focuses on investment in research, advocacy and awareness activities which will achieve our mission of increasing 5 year survival rates to 50% by 2023.
