If you're from the St Joseph-Ogden area and beyond, you know the Breitenfeldt name and the love they have for their community, their family and their Lord and Savior! 2017 started with the worst tragedy any parent could imagine when their son Cody took his own life. Through this loss, we saw the best of the Breitenfeldt family as they publicly and privately walked through a terrible loss with a beautiful focus on the love our Heavenly Father provides...even in a storm!
This morning, at 2:45 AM, Colton, their youngest son, woke Rick and Jess to the smell of smoke as they escaped their home, engulfed in flames, from a lightening strike. Within 20 minutes the roof had caved in and the firefighters worked tirelessly even beyond daybreak to stop the flames. Thankfully, the entire family, including the kitty (who was rescued from under their bed after the firefighters arrived), made it out of the home safely. Professionals will determine what may be salvagable, but at this time very few things made it out of the house with them.
They continue to praise God for the blessings of their lives and the few things the firefighters were able to grab for the family as they rushed in the first few times. While they know that God will restore and redeem every loss they've experienced, we know He ultimately sent us as His hands and feet for one another. So...at this time, every gift helps and we thank you for your prayers, praising Him in this storm with the Brietenfeldt family and being thankful for every day you have with your family and in the comforts of your own home.
