From Heather on 9/27: It is with a heavy heart that I share my most recent medical assessment. We took a small break from chemo, per my wonderful oncologists' recommendation, the end of June. I was just hospitalized and released this past week, and the latest CAT scan showed that the cancer has basically spread all over. So much so, that my Dr. Feels further chemo would do more harm than good. I have been given 1- several months, at most to live. We plan on using this time to catch up and visit with loved one's, as well as fix up and move into my homeplace in Granite Quarry, as quickly as we can, before hospice is called in. I don't understand God's timing or plan, but I can say that he is good, and he has given me so many wonderful friends and family. My brief 40 years on this earth have been so blessed, no words can express. Continue to pray for my precious husband and children, as this news has rocked them to their core. Do not be sad for me, for I serve a mighty Savior who is ready to usher me home. He is waiting with open arms. Love to all❤
This is an update from Heather's social media: I have previously refrained from addressing the issue on FB, mainly because of shock and privacy. However, the time has came to share an update, so here is where we are. Anyone who knows me, knows we are a happy, healthy, active family. Rarely sick, we run on 100% and are as busy as any family with 2 kids. I am a stay at home, full time, homeschooling mom. We have did this for 9 years. I formally stopped working part time last year to focus 100% as Noah approached high school. In December, a small lump appeared on my right neck. Being a mom (we always put our health and selves last) I ignored it with plans to share with my OBGYN in January. I did so at that visit, to which was told the results for visit would take a couple weeks for results. During that time, my normal breathing began heavily labored. Chris rushed me to the ER a week later to which I was admitted. During that week, after a slew of biopsies, samples, EKG's, ECHOS, lung and abdomen drainings, and tons of blood panels, my diagnosis was revealed: Stage 4 Advanced Cervical Cancer that has spread to lymph nodes in neck, chest, abdomen: a grim and shocking blow to our hearts and lives. We made a game plan to fight this as aggressively as we can , considering my condition is inoperable. :/ Their main concern initially is to get lymph nodes to stop producing fluid needing to be drained daily from lung tubes I have had installed in my sides. Chemotherapy will be essential for that. I was treated for a week, prescribed a ton of meds, and sent home. A week later, my oxygen saturation plummeted and heart rate skyrockets and wont regulated. We then were RE-AMDITTED to ICU for another week. During THIS TRIP, a wonderful doctor caught a vital clue: blood clots in both lungs previously missed bc of all the amassing fluid in lung. Aggressive treatment of blood thinners and an additional lung tube seems to improve. After a week of PT, more procedures, labs and receiving blood, I was finally released late Saturday night. Home is wonderful, and we are falling back into routine, however EVERYTHING IS NEW. From cleaning and cooking, things we take for granted are taxing and tiring. No to mention daily trips to hospital for radiation . Jodi and Rachal, my nearest and dearest set this up on Chris' and I behalf. Several inquiries have been made, so this Go Fund Me reflects that. We are now facing copious bills, copays, 2 extensive hospital stays, medicines, treatments, ongoing visits, and 2 ER visits. What we know now is EVERYTHING in our life will be different. From the need to oxygen and wheelchairs, wigs and other costs, our on our shoulders. If you feel led to donate, God bless you: if not; please consider sharing this post for more exposure. Hoping to bless or inspire others. Thank you again for your time. We love you all !
On Monday, January 20th our lives changed. Heather was admitted to the hospital and diagnosed with stage 4 cervical cancer. Wife, mother, sister, daughter and friend, whatever you call her, you know the heart of this selfless lady. Please consider donating as medical deductibles, medical supplies, wigs, wheelchair and other unforeseen costs become evident in this situation. Thank you so much.
