#TheBigComfyChair: Bree's 1st Birthday Fundraiser

First birthdays are always special for parents. Bree’s first birthday feels extra special, because we never fully expected that she would be here with us to celebrate.

When we found out about Bree’s diagnosis prenatally, our initial hope was simply to meet her alive. We were told that wasn’t something that was guaranteed. We were also told that only 5-10% of children with Trisomy 13 live to one year, so as parents, it was difficult to imagine reaching this milestone. But here we are. Bree, our growing warrior is gearing up to celebrate one year of life. Not only is this a birthday, it’s a symbol for a life that we thought she might never have.

Wanting to celebrate this special milestone, so many people that love Bree have asked us what they can get her for her 1st birthday. There is one thing in particular that Bree does need at this stage of her growth which is an adaptive seating system and this type of equipment for children with disabilities is incredibly expensive. So we decided to establish this GoFundMe fundraiser to accept contributions for it, and also to raise money for a very special non-profit, The Stella Effect, who are organizing an incredible 1st birthday party for Bree.
