Brecon War Memorial Hospital-in loving memory of Merriel ❤️

Hi. My name is Bethany and on 23rd August 2025, I am taking part in the Crickhowell 10km run, to raise money for Brecon War Memorial Community Hospital.

I am doing this in loving memory of my Nana, Merriel, who passed away peacefully on 29th April 2025, in Brecon War Memorial Community Hospital (Y Bannau ward). During her time in the hospital, my Nana received outstanding end-of-life care from the amazing staff, who treated my Nana as the beautiful, independent and intelligent woman that she was. The staff at the hospital went above and beyond throughout my Nana’s admission, and the level of care that my family and I witnessed made the whole experience slightly more bearable. It was a comfort to know that our lovely Merriel was being cared for by such compassionate and admirable doctors, nurses and support staff.

My Nana was 92 years old when she passed, and although she had been diagnosed with vascular dementia and a life-limiting heart condition, she lived a long and happy life, always maintaining a positive outlook, fantastic sense of humour and putting others before herself, even in her final days.

I will be training for the race in the coming months to achieve the best possible finishing time, and raise as much money as possible for this excellent cause, in loving memory of my Nana. I would be incredibly grateful for any donations, large or small.
