Hi, my name is Carolyn Marrero. I'm reaching out to ask for your support during a critical time in my life. I am currently a lung transplant candidate, and every day is a fight to breathe.

I became a single mother in May of 1997 after losing my husband, a United States Army veteran. I've raised my family through loss and hardship, and now I face the most serious medical challenge of my life.

I was diagnosed with sarcoidosis in 2009 and lupus in 2011. I now live with pulmonary hypertension and tricuspid valve regurgitation, which have caused severe and irreversible lung damage. A lung transplant is my only medical option for survival.

I'm a mother of four adult children and grandmother of fourteen grandchildren. Because of my illness, I mostly connect with them via phone or video calls. My greatest hope is not only to survive but to be present in their lives again. The transplant process comes with significant financial requirements before and after surgery. To meet these, I'm working to raise $10,000+ to cover critical transplant-related expenses.
