Help Us Plant Bamboo & Combat Climate Change in Nepal!
We all know trees are great for the environment—but bamboo is even better! It captures carbon faster, helps prevent landslides, and provides sustainable economic opportunities. That’s why Globally Concern for Climate Change (GCCCC) is leading a groundbreaking bamboo reforestation project in Nepal.
Why Bamboo? Why Nepal?
The Kathmandu Valley faces severe pollution, with toxic air from India’s industrial centers coating the Himalayas in black soot. This speeds up glacial melting, leading to avalanches, landslides, and habitat loss for snow leopards, red pandas, and other endangered species. The Himalayas supply water to 2 billion people—their survival depends on us protecting this fragile ecosystem.
Our Solution: Bamboo Reforestation
Thanks to the support of the mayor of Lalitpur, we have been granted 20 hectares of land in the beautiful Lamatar/Lalitpur region—including roadside areas and landslide-damaged zones—to plant over 8,000 bamboo clumps. In just four years, these groves will mature, stabilizing the land, improving air quality, and providing a sustainable economic resource for Nepali communities.
Once mature, we will responsibly harvest the bamboo and invest in a processing facility to create ultra-soft bamboo fabric—offering fair-wage jobs to local men and women in a country known for low wages.
How You Can Help
Your donation directly supports bamboo planting and reforestation efforts. Just $10 plants four bamboo starter plants—a small gift that makes a huge impact!
$5 = 2 bamboo plants
$10 = 4 bamboo plants
$20 = 8 bamboo plants
$40 = 16 bamboo plants
Every contribution brings us closer to a greener, healthier Nepal. Can’t plant a tree this year? Plant bamboo instead!
Donate today and be part of the solution. The Himalayas, wildlife, and millions of people need your help!
