Breast reconstruction costs post breast cancer.

Hi my name is Sharon. I am a mum of 5 that is 2 years in remission from breast cancer. Some of you may have supported me previously though my treatment and I am very happy to say after 3 surgeries, 3 months of chemo and a year of immunotherapy, I am in the clear. I have been on the public waiting list for DIEP Flap reconstructive surgery for 18 months and have been offered surgery on the 22nd of April by an amazing surgeon that will do it privately but as a public patient. This is fantastic and will be life changing for me. Unfortunately I just received a call from the anaesthetist and the upfront cost for my 9 hour surgery is $4350 give or take for complications or extra needs. I have to pay this in full by Friday the 12th April. Which is just not possible on such short notice and I’m scared that I will not get the surgery I so desperately need so I can put an end to this chapter of my life and move on. Any help you can give would be most appreciated and will help give me some sort of normality back. Thank you for reading.
