Breast Cancer Fundraiser for Carlena (Gatekeeper)

Dirt, Dogs, and Derby

If you know Carlena/Gatekeeper, you most likely have one of these things in common with her. She loves her dogs, playing and reffing roller derby, and getting in the dirt in her rock crawler. Gate has been a vital part of Sierra Regional Roller Derby since its inception as a founding member, and gives her time generously to coach the juniors team along with skating on the All-Stars. A member of Lake Tahoe Hi-Lo's 4WD Club, Carlena helps maintain Rubicon Trail access, along with raising funds through its annual Poker Run to distribute to local charities. And alongside all of this and working full-time, she has her own dog training business, Frog Dog Canine Services.

Carlena was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer on September 7, 2023. She will be undergoing treatment that will include chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation. This will not be a short process, and this fundraiser is to help relieve some of the stress of having to pay her insurance deductible and missing work during treatment, along with other unexpected medical expenses.

All of you know she doesn't like to ask for help or depend on other people. But this is a time we can support Carlena and show her how much we care.
