Breast cancer treatment at 'Oasis of Hope'

After a routine mammogram in December 2022, we were surprised to hear that Alicia Merlady had 2 tumors in her left breast. Yes, she had Invasive Ductal Carcinoma stage 2. What? Her immediate response was one of shock and disbelief. “I, who exercise, dance, eat healthily, play with my dog, laugh, play beautiful music, clown around, have a delicious relationship, and love life... have cancer?”

Never being one who gives in to despair, Alicia immediately began to read everything she could find out about her condition. There is a surprising amount of information on natural treatments for cancer that are not invasive yet produce results at least as promising as surgery and drugs. Merlady listened carefully to her body and her strong intuition. She gathered a dedicated team around her that includes both a traditional medical surgeon and several alternative practitioners. Alicia Merlady has been on an extensive program of herbs and medicinal mushrooms, a keto diet, supplements, and coffee enemas. After several ultrasounds to track progress, she is not experiencing dissolution of the tumors she had hoped for. They have not grown, but they have not disappeared either. Time to regroup again.

The daily treatment regime is exhausting. Realizing that she needed help, Alicia began to research cancer clinics worldwide. In mid-March she found a treatment clinic in Tijuana that she strongly resonates with, and she feels hopeful ~ its name is 'Oasis of Hope". The Hospital opened 60 years ago, in 1963, and has helped many folks. They started with Dr. Contreras Sr., a disillusioned MD who was determined to give his cancer patients a better program than what was generally offered. Now his son runs the facility with his grandson also on staff. Three generations.

This is an overview of what the program offers: (See website oasisofhope.com/ for details)

~A 3-week treatment program in a state-of-the-art facility.

~ a 3-month continuing home program.

~ return to Oasis of Hope in 3 months for a one-week follow up

~5-year assistance and consultation by phone

What she really likes is the emphasis on the whole person. There are many different alternative modalities utilized in this program along with leading-edge allopathic therapies. This program emphasizes the individuality of each type of cancer. However, the treatments are prohibitively expensive, and medical insurance does not cover any of it.
